Music

I obtained my Bachelor of Music (2010) and Master of Music (2012) degrees from the University of Mississippi.

I began teaching elementary music in August 2012.  It has been my pleasure to teach music at GES since August 2016.

While attending Ole Miss, I was a member of many musical ensembles including the Pride of the South Marching Band (2 years clarinet and 2 years trumpet), LOU Orchestra (principal clarinetist), Clarinet Quartet, Collegians Jazz Band (alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, and trumpet), Women's Ensemble (chorus), and Wind Ensemble (clarinet).  I completed many courses in the study of music for children as well as wind band music. I am certified in the State of MS to teach K-12 Vocal Music and K-12 Instrumental Music.

Welcome to the GES Music page!

Music is not only something I do; but it is part of who I am.

I listen to music, sing, perform, and teach it. I don't expect every person to love music as much as I do, but it is my hope that my students will enjoy their time making music in my class and develop an appreciation for music.

I come from a very musical family!  My brothers and I played our instruments and sang together all though our school age years, college, and still make music together.  Though each brother lives in a different state from me, anytime we visit each other is another opportunity for us to enjoy each other's company and make music.

I am married with one child in middle school, one cat, and one dog.  My husband and daughter also love music and have joined the rest of my family when we make music together!

The only thing greater than my passion for music and teaching is my love for people and family.

My Teacher Goals:

--Through performing music, learning music, and playing music games together, it is my goal to establish a sense of community in our school and classrooms in which every child feels safe, welcomed, and cherished.

--I believe that making music together is fulfilling for the students.  Students can feel free to express themselves and learn to encourage each other as we make music.

--I will teach music to the best of my ability and continue to show every student that he/she is important to me.
